The Project Engineer will play a key role in assisting the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of concrete construction projects. This position serves as a technical resource, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Engineer will work closely with field supervisors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure that project specifications are met and that day-to-day operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Planning:
- Work with the Project Manager and field staff to plan concrete pours, formwork, and reinforcing steel activities.
- Ensure project requirements are understood and met according to design and specifications.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules, work plans, and cost estimates.
- Assist in developing and tracking project budgets, including forecasting material, labor, and equipment costs.
Technical Support:
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance with design and engineering standards.
- Prepare and submit requests for information (RFIs), submittals, and change orders.
- Coordinate with the design team to resolve any technical issues or discrepancies.
- Provide technical guidance to field supervisors and other team members as needed.
Document Control & Reporting:
- Prepare, maintain, organize and distribute project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, daily logs, tickets, and inspection reports.
- Assist in preparing progress reports, tracking project milestones, and ensuring all project documentation is up to date.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with project managers, field supervisors, and clients to ensure completeness and timeliness of documentation, materials, and equipment.
- Attend project meetings and provide input on construction activities, scheduling, and logistics.
- Foster a positive relationship with clients, general contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, preferred.
- Experience:
2-4 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role, preferably with experience in concrete or heavy civil construction. - Familiarity with concrete materials, processes, and formwork systems.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction documents, contracts, and drawings.
- Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Plangrid, etc.).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed both in an office environment and on active construction sites.
Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
Must be able to work in outdoor conditions and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
