Job Description: The Skilled Laborer will possess competency in the following areas to perform his/her role in a safely manner.
  • Strips forms: walls, columns, decks, etc.
  • Provide Support to carpenters, engineers, and rodmen with transport of materials and equipment.
  • Builds and dismantles scaffolds.
  • Uses rake, vibrator, wheel barrow, and concrete bucket to place concrete.
  • Power tool operator; drill, hammer drill, jack hammer, vibrator, circular saw, chop saw, concrete saw, grinder
  • Small machine operator; buggy, bobcat, excavator, tamper, roller, jumping jack.
  • Operate and maintain power tools and machines
  • Operate, understand concrete vibrator and procedures.
  • Installs concrete with power equipment.
  • Carpenter tenders/helper
  • Riggs loads for hoisting and signals crane and forklift operators
  • Perform demolition work and operate air compressor with jackhammers
  • Operate, understand and maintain power tools in a safe manner.
Job Requirements: The Skilled Laborer will possess the knowledge, skill, and/or ability in the following areas essential to perform the functions of the position.
  • Must Be DC Resident
  • High School diploma or equivalent; minimum of one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a skilled Laborer in the concrete industry.
  • Possess Valid ID
  • Ability to write routine correspondence, and communicate with co-workers
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure and apply associated math skills.
  • Must have the ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb or crawl.
  • Ability to correctly rig and hoist material.
  • Ability to signal, rig & work safely with cranes.
  • Ability to tolerate heights without fear.
  • Ability to maintain balance.
  • Work involves exposure to outside weather conditions and dirt, dust, fumes, and/or loud noises.
  • OSHA 10 trained
  • Documented training in PPE, fall prevention/protection, scaffolding, excavation, small power tools ladders.
  • Rigger/Signal Person cert card preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, sometime early, late, and weekend as needed

Supply their own personal hand tools (required list provided at interview)
